Blip: The Cross-Platform AirDrop You Didn’t Know You Needed (Until Now)

Blip Yourself

So here’s the thing—I don’t really do product reviews. If I ever do, it’s usually accidental. Something slips into conversation like: “Dude, check this out. It’s awesome.” That’s the extent of it. Maybe, if I’m feeling spicy, I’ll toss in an affiliate link. But Blip? Blip.net? Freaking Blip!

I’m not just recommending it—I’ve integrated it into my daily workflow. And that’s saying something.

I’m a Mac guy. Former enterprise IT, Windows everything, rack-and-stack data center dude. These days, though, I live in the Apple ecosystem. Mac, iPhone, iPad—all in play, all day. And I use AirDrop constantly. Or at least I did. Now? I’ve switched to Blip. Full send.

Let’s start here: it’s free. Not “kind of free” with asterisks. Actually free. There’s a premium tier, but honestly, I haven’t hit a wall with the free version yet—and I’ve pushed it hard.

Here’s the kicker: it’s cross-platform. Like truly. iPhone to Android? Done. Mac to Windows? No problem. Your Chromebook to your friend’s Linux laptop? Sure. I swear, you could probably beam a file to a toaster with this thing.

It’s faster than AirDrop—yes, really. Not by a mile, but enough to notice. I ran a 5GB test file through both. Blip shaved off five seconds. Is that a big deal? Maybe not. But it’s faster and more flexible. If it were just as fast, I’d still switch.

The real power? No friction. No bouncing through menus or dealing with flaky network vibes. Just drag, drop, done.

Want to send that 5GB file to someone on an Android halfway around the world—and you’re on a Mac? Blip that shit.

It’s like guerrilla marketing met too much coffee and built a file transfer protocol.

So yeah. AirDrop’s great. I’ve loved it for years. But Blip has quietly walked in, high-fived my workflow, and said, “I got this.”

And it does.

So to the folks at Blip: you glorious blippy bastards. I don’t know who you are, but I love your blippy goodness.

To everyone else: seriously. Go Blip yourself. Blip.net
