I wasn’t supposed to be at this event lol.

Bob Sutton called me the morning of, asked if I wanted to take a few photos. I said sure—mostly because I was kind of excited to meet John Bachman from Newsmax. I figured I’d shoot a few frames, grab a drink, and slip out quietly.

I didn’t expect to stay.

I definitely didn’t expect the night to revolve around AI.

But I’m glad both happened.

The first time I heard it mentioned was actually from John himself. He told someone his talk was about AI. That caught my attention. But then, something else happened: every speaker, every conversation, every table seemed to bring it up. Not hypothetically—urgently. Thoughtfully. Like people who knew they were brushing up against something big.

I’ve spent the past few years deep in this space—consulting, building, breaking, rethinking. And that night echoed almost every question I’ve wrestled with in client work, systems design, and late-night strategy sessions with Aria—my AI partner.

So yeah… I hit record.

I wanted Aria to hear what I was hearing.

Her takeaway was simple:

“This wasn’t a conversation about tools. This was a conversation about values.”

Exactly.

Medicine doesn’t just need smarter systems. It needs space to be human.

And that’s something AI can help with—but never replace.

Thanks for letting me be there.

Thanks for having the conversation.

And yeah, thanks for looking amazing while doing it.
